Close up with... Figma Asahina Mikuru Waitress Version
Figma is kind of synonymous with Suzumiya Haruhi these days. It seems we get a new Figma from the series every couple of months sometimes. So, what does the latest figure of the time travelling Asahina Mikuru offer fans?
.This particular figure features Mikuru in her Combat Waitress outfit - seen in the opening episode of the original series, and later expanded upon in the sequel series in 2009. Combat Waitress Mikuru is on a mission to defeat the evil alien witch, Nagato!
She comes with all she needs to fight evil, a pair of BB guns (aquired by Haruhi), her adorable pink and white waitress dress, and her blue eye contact, which allows her to fire her Mikuru Beam (note: figure does not have Mikuru Beam functionality).
The thing is, Figmas can be a little tricky to handle sometimes. The tiny joints in the hands make it hard to put them in if you've got larger fingers, and sometimes the parts don't *quite* seem to fit just right. Luckily, Mikuru mostly seems free of this. Our figure had a slightly loose right hand joint, meaning hands seemed to come out a little too easily, but other than that there was little to complain about.
The stand is the usual Figma base, which slots into a snug hole in her back. You'll probably have to give it a bit of a twist if you want to get it in properly, otherwise she may find herself falling over.
The quality of the figure is pretty good. There were a few paint marks (you can see one on her right ponytail in our photos), but as a small figure it's nicely detailed and poses well.
If you like Figma or Suzumiya Haruhi, this figure will be a welcome addition to your collection. It's not perfect, but it's a charming and lovable figure which will sit nicely amongst your other Figmas.
